Planning a Container Garden

THE HARABHARA GARDEN NOTES

A few well-chosen containers can make a manageable growing space. Before buying, check the basics.

  1. Look at the location. Observe light and exposure where the containers will actually stand.
  2. Choose for the mature plant. Match the container size and growing medium to what you plan to grow.
  3. Check drainage. Containers need drainage holes so excess water can escape.
  4. Plan for care. Keep watering access in mind. Plants in containers rely on a limited amount of growing medium and need ongoing attention.

For a rooftop or elevated balcony, confirm the space can safely carry your planned containers. Our volume calculator estimates growing-medium volume; it does not calculate structural loads.
