Before You Sow: A Simple Seed-Starting Checklist

THE HARABHARA GARDEN NOTES

A good first sowing starts with a little preparation. Gather your materials before opening the packet.

  1. Read the packet. Check the variety, sowing depth, germination requirements and recommended timing. Match these to your local conditions in Pakistan rather than following a foreign seasonal calendar.
  2. Prepare your space. Have clean pots or a seed tray, a suitable sowing medium and a gentle watering tool ready.
  3. Keep track. Label each pot or tray with the variety and sowing date.
  4. Follow the variety. Seeds differ in their requirements. Use the packet instructions for depth and conditions.
